First day of sampling on the Gambia River<\/h4>\n

Yesterday, the Mauritius sailed deeper into the Gambia River for its first day of research under glorious sunshine. The scientific team took the first samples of water between 0.5 and 8 m deep. These studies examine a number of parameters, including water temperature, salinity and conductivity. The Gambian students were given the opportunity to learn how to take samples on board the sailboat.<\/p>\n

The analysis continues today with the collection of new data in the river and the first soil cores near the mangroves.<\/p>\n

“Sail for the mangroves in Gambia” is a project run in partnership with the University of Geneva, the GREAT Institute Gambia & Swansea University.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
