OUR SAILING BOATS
Ideal logistics platforms for oceanographic expeditions in the service of science and socio-education
Why sailboats?
Our two sailboats, the Fleur de Passion and the Mauritius, are perfectly suited for multipurpose use according to the scientific expeditions they can lead. Moving essentially under sail, therefore silent and non-polluting, our sailboats are cut out for transoceanic crossings but are also capable of sailing close to the coast thanks to their shallow draft.
Equipped with specific technological equipment, they can ensure the collection and transmission of continuous field data.
Finally, our two sailboats are also privileged vectors for raising awareness among decision-makers and the general public.
Fleur de Passion
Fleur de Passion is a traditional 33-meter ketch built of wood and steel.
A former German Navy mine sweeper of the Kriegsfischkutter (KFK) type built in 1941 in the Bremen shipyards, she was transferred to France in 1945, then decommissioned and transformed into a ketch by a private individual in 1976.
From the 1980s, it hosted the first scientific projects with French academic institutions such as Ifremer.
Since 2009, under the aegis of Pacifique, it has carried out long-distance expeditions and one-off missions in the Mediterranean, Atlantic, Red Sea, Baltic and Caribbean, as well as a round-the-world voyage in the wake of Magellan, from 2015 to 2019.
