Many thanks!

Alaska’s beauty is matched only by the hospitality of its inhabitants. Here’s a summary of our last few weeks in the north, the start of our final year in the Arctic.

After a few stressful moments, and a lot of work on board (notably on the rudder, sails, etc.), the crew returned to the water on May 24. The first tests were conclusive, but there are still a few adjustments to be made over the coming weeks.
In port, the team doesn’t go unnoticed. One thing leading to another, curiosity gives way to mutual help, as is customary in the marine world. Welding, electricity, engines… everyone pitches in as best they can. The richness of this adventure is above all human: it’s also thanks to these encounters that Pacifique is able to carry out its projects. Special thanks to Adam, Kim, Max, Daniel, Maren, Bernie, Marcee, Willie, Dean and Kait.

On June 1, Émilien, the skipper of this year’s polar expedition, and Marco, a young man in rehabilitation, join the boat. Ambroise, Makaline artist for the “Sillages” publication, is also on board. A few last moments with our Alaskan hosts, and it’s time to head for Kodiak Island. An emotional farewell with a sea otter, who had become the sailboat’s guardian for the duration of an anchorage, marks the departure.

Next stop, the Aleutian Islands and the big departure for Nome.
