The “Sailing for Mangroves” expedition is starting!
Final preparations in Banjul for the team led by Maiyai Taal Hocheimy from the GREAT Institute, alongside Prof. Daniel Frank McGinnis from the University of Geneva and Prof. Kam Tang from Swansea University.
Pacifique is honored to welcome so many Gambian students aboard the Fleur de Passion sailboat. Over the course of a week, the crew will sail up the Gambia River to study mangroves, and take several surface water samples to analyze greenhouse gas concentrations and other oceanographic parameters.
For this second year, we’ll be following this week-long expedition in pictures, with the aim of gaining a better understanding of the fragile mangrove ecosystem.
