Anja von Senger, a Pacifique sailor, has just returned from three months at sea aboard the Mauritius. She has a few words to say on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

“At the age of 8, I was already sailing my 1st Optimist on Lake Zurich. Since then, my passion for sailing has never left me. After raising my four children, the ocean became my workplace.

The world of sailing is still a very male-dominated environment. It’s a demanding environment that requires great willpower, courage and endurance. Being a woman sailor means constantly surpassing yourself and being highly motivated in the face of a sustained and sometimes difficult pace.

The transatlantic crossing between Dakar and Martinique with young people in rehabilitation lasted 21 days. It was an unforgettable experience, punctuated by magnificent moments.

I encourage all women to believe in themselves and their abilities. To continue to follow their hearts and dream high, because we can do much more than we imagine.”
